    Alteration Finder was created with two missions in mind. To offer an easy and readily available service for people needing alterations from the comfort of their homes. And to create a platform for tailors and alteration professionals to develop extra revenue on their terms.

    Alteration Finder allows tailors to choose what to work on, when, how much to charge, and how long to complete an order for alterations.

    Our app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play and free to use. And for a limited time, we require no membership fee.

    Best of all, tailors receive 100% of their charges plus any tips instantly as soon as they complete an order. We collect no fees or commissions. The tailor decides what to charge for an order, and they receive 100%.

  • How does Alteration Finder for Tailors work?

    Our clients use our app to submit an order for alterations by selecting a garment type, a few photos, and describing their requirements.

    You will then receive notifications on your phone for new orders and can review and apply for them on our app. You submit your availability, price for the job, and qualifications that you specify when you create your profile with Alteration Finder.

    Clients may receive several applications for their order and will review and decide to hire one.

    When you’re hired, you arrange a meeting with your client for the fitting in person or virtually on a video call; in this case, you instruct your client to make measurements, insert marks on the garment, and ship them to you.

    After you complete the order, you deliver the garments in person or ship them to your client.

    When your client receives the garments and is satisfied with the result, they make the payment.

    And you will instantly receive 100% of your fee plus any tips.

    Our app is easy to use, and our clients can submit any order that needs the skills of someone comfortable with the sewing needle. The orders can be of any alterations, made-to-measure, or custom-made garments.

    Unlike similar services where the service provider subtracts fees or commissions, we allow our tailors to determine their price for the job and receive 100% of it, plus any tips when the job is completed and paid by the client.

    Our initial sign-up process includes a step where you can establish an account with our 3rd party provider to receive your payments directly in the form of a debit card or check, or an EFT deposit to your bank account automatically.

    When you’re hired for an order, you make an appointment with the client through our app for a fitting either in person if they’re within a reasonable driving distance or virtually through an in-app face-to-face video call in which case you instruct the client to make accurate measurements and insert marks on the garments and ship them to you directly.

  • Do I have to be near the client’s location?

    No. Our app displays the distance between a client and the tailor’s general location in actual miles if within a reasonable driving distance or 50+ if remote. It is up to the client to decide whether to hire a local or remote tailor for the job.

  • Is the app free?

    Yes, our app is free to download and use for a limited time. In future releases, we might add advanced features requiring a monthly or annual membership to access.

    The orders submitted by our clients vary in range from shortening or lengthening sleeves and hems to complex garments such as wedding gowns or cocktail dresses and suits. We also receive orders for custom-made garments and made-to-measure garments.

    We encourage all individuals with novice to expert backgrounds in sewing and alterations to sign up.

    After downloading the Alteration Finder Tailor app from your device’s app store (the App Store or Google Play), you may sign up with your email address and password or conveniently use your social media accounts such as Facebook, Google, or Apple.

    Once you’ve signed up, our app will walk you through the steps to create your profile and start our qualification assessment process.

    After you’ve downloaded our Alteration Finder Tailor app and completed your profile, you will be prompted to complete our qualification and verification process.

    This process consists of four progressive steps: face-to-face video interview to assess your skills and expertise, application signing, background check, and creating an account with our 3rd party provider to receive payments.

  • Will I receive notifications for new orders?

    Yes, you will receive notifications for all new orders that Alteration Finder considers you qualified for. You may opt in/out at any time on our app’s main menu.

  • Can I apply to orders right away?

    Yes, after you’ve completed your sign-up process, you may apply for any number of orders you deem yourself qualified for.

  • What types of orders can I apply for?

    You will receive notifications and can view any new order on your dashboard. You may apply for any new order that you deem yourself to be qualified for.

  • Do other tailors apply for the same order?

    Yes. Any tailor qualified to complete a new order is notified and may apply through our app.

  • Can customers rate tailors?

    Yes. We encourage our clients to rate their tailors and leave feedback about their expertise and overall satisfaction with the job.

  • How can I make sure I stand out against other applicants?

    After a client submits an order for alterations, they may receive several applications from qualified tailors.

    The client can review all applicants’ general location and distance, expertise, years of experience, specialties, customer ratings, availability, and price. You may also enter notes in your profile to express your qualifications in simple terms and with each order.

  • What do I do after I’m hired?

    After you’re hired, you make an appointment with your client for the initial fitting. This appointment may be in person if you are within a reasonable driving distance or on a face-to-face video call, on which you may instruct your client to make measurements, insert marks on the garments, and ship them to you directly.

  • What if I need more info on the order?

    While completing an order, you may contact your client for additional information or photos via in-app text, email including attachments, phone and video calls, and in-person meetings if other fitting is required.

    Your client will receive a notification for the update and must approve the extra cost. The order will be pending until Alteration Finder gets the client’s approval.

    You will receive a notification as soon as your client approves the changes.

  • Can I update my initial estimated price?

    During the initial fitting, you must thoroughly understand your client’s requirements and adjust your time and cost, if any.

    However, we understand that you might encounter more complexity during the process. You must contact your client immediately to discuss your options and possible increased time and cost.

    Our app includes a complete order management screen on which you may update your estimated prices. After you enter your new cost and reason, your client will receive a notification and must approve it before you continue working on the order.

  • What if additional fitting is needed?

    You may schedule a meeting with your client through the app if additional fitting is required. This meeting may be in person if you’re within a reasonable driving distance.

    For a remote order where the in-person meeting is impractical, you must contact your client through the app to discuss your options for transferring the garments.

  • How do I keep my client updated?

    Your client receives notifications when you update the order with your progress or send them in-app text and email.

    You may also voice-call your client or schedule a time for a video meeting.

  • How long do I have to complete the order?

    The time you require to complete the order is entirely up to you. We recommend thoroughly understanding the client’s requirements before applying.

  • What if there’s a delay?

    In case there’s a delay, you must notify your client by contacting them directly through the app. You must also update your progress on the app and state the reason.

  • Can I send and receive more pictures of the garment?

    Yes, you may use our app’s email feature to send and receive more photos. In our upcoming releases, we plan to add more convenient features.

  • Can I get help from your other tailors?

    Currently, our app does not include features for a community or forum. We may add such features in our future releases.

  • What do I do when I’m done with the order?

    After you’ve completed the order, you must update your progress on the app and schedule a meeting with your client for the delivery and final fitting.

    This meeting may be in person if you’re within a reasonable driving distance or on a face-to-face video call, in which case you ship the garments back to your client after you discuss any final adjustments.

  • Does the client pay me directly?

    The client will make the final payment through our app after they receive the garments and are satisfied with the result.

    Alteration Finder will deposit the funds and any tips in your account instantly.

  • What if there’s a problem with the order?

    Our app includes several in-app features to communicate with your client directly. You may utilize these features to contact and resolve any issues.

    The role of Alteration Finder is to connect clients with tailors. It does not engage in any part of the process from hiring to delivery.

    However, there may be cases where a dispute still needs to be resolved between clients and tailors, in which case you may contact us for assistance.

  • What if the garment is damaged?

    After you receive the garments, you must examine them thoroughly for damages and notify your client immediately if you find any.

    Please remember that Alteration Finder does not engage in any part of the process from hiring to delivery.

    If a garment is damaged during the alteration process, you are responsible for trying to remedy the problem or compensate the client for the cost.

    Currently, Alteration Finder includes features for the client to rate and leave feedback on the tailor. We might add the option for the reverse rating in the future.

    Currently, the client may do so directly on their social media accounts. In future releases, we will add more convenient features for this purpose.
