What is Alteration Finder?
Alteration Finder is similar to today’s popular ride-sharing services, where tailors and qualified alteration professionals come to you for the service. With Alteration Finder, you choose who to hire for the job.
Using our app, you submit an order for one or more pieces of garments you want to be altered and receive applications from qualified alteration professionals that you can review and select to hire and meet at your home, office, or a place of your choosing.
How do I sign up?
After downloading our app from the App Store or Google Play, you may go through the steps of creating a new order. Our app will prompt you to sign up when you add the order to your basket.
When you sign up, you may use your credentials with Google, Apple, or Facebook. Or you may enter your email address for user ID and choose a strong password.
Do you make custom clothes?
Yes. When you select “custom made” when submitting your order, we notify the group of tailors with more experience and expertise to apply to your order.
Do you make clothes made-to-measure?
Yes. Our tailors are fully qualified to make garments according to your specifications and body measurements.
Is there a membership fee?
Our app is free to use to its full extent of features and requires no membership for a limited time. In our upcoming releases, we may add advanced features requiring a monthly or annual membership for access.
Is my personal information safe?
Yes. We do not collect any sensitive information. Your name, address, and mobile phone number are required to sign up and submit orders. However, we do not share that information with our tailors or any other 3rd party or affiliates.
Are tailors local or remote?
We have a large and growing community of tailors nationwide and soon globally. Depending on your location, there may be tailors within a reasonable driving distance so that you can meet them in person and at your chosen location.
After you submit an order, you may also receive applications from tailors who are remote to your location. If you decide to hire one, you may conduct the entire process virtually and by shipping the garments.
How do I hire a tailor?
You can hire a tailor by tapping a button on the app and, after confirming your decision, enter your credit card information or use Apple Pay or Google Pay to validate and pre-authorize the order.
Your credit card won’t be charged at this point. You make the actual payment after you receive the completed job and are satisfied with the result.
Are tailors your employees?
We maintain strict rules in adding expert individuals to our ever-growing tailors and alteration professionals repository.
When a tailor signs up with Alteration Finder, they must complete a personality and skills test, a face-to-face interview with our management staff, and a full background check before submitting applications to new orders.
Alteration Finder does not employ tailors. They are independent contractors who can choose when, where, and which orders to apply, how long they require to complete the job, and how much to charge for it.
Our mission is to connect people needing alterations with expert tailors and alteration professionals. Once a tailor passes our initial sign-in process and approval, Alteration Finder does not involve itself in the order placement and completion. This process is entirely between you and your tailor.
Do you share my personal information with 3rd party?
The only information we collect from you is what’s needed to complete your profile. We need your full name, address, mobile phone number, and, optionally, your headshot.
When you submit an order, we display your first name and last initial on our tailor’s app. We also use your postal code to display your general location and distance to our tailors. We use your mobile phone number to send text messages for notifications.
Your full name, address, and phone number are kept from everyone, including prospective tailors or any 3rdparty.
Can I meet the tailor before hiring?
Yes. You may initiate a face-to-face video call with the tailor to learn more about them and ask any questions.
How much does it cost?
The cost of the alteration is determined by the tailor per the requirements specified in your order and the job’s complexity.
How is the fitting done?
Your tailor conducts the fitting in person if they are within a reasonable driving distance or virtually through an in-app face-to-face call.
For an in-person fitting, you select the time and place for the meeting. For a virtual fitting, you choose the time for a video call. Your tailor will instruct you to make measurements, place marks on the garment, and ship it to them.
What happens after I submit an order?
You will receive applications from tailors in your area (if any) and remote. You may review their qualifications, including their years of experience, expertise, customer ratings, availability and time needed to complete the order, and estimated price.
You may interview those interested through a face-to-face video call before hiring one.
Do I get notifications?
Yes. Notifications are at the core of Alteration Finder’s services. We keep you up to date in the entire process by sending you in-app notifications and SMS messages on your phone.
You may opt out of all notifications through our app’s main menu.
How do I choose a tailor?
When you receive applications from tailors, you review their qualifications, including their general location and distance, years of experience, expertise, specialties, customer ratings, availability, and estimated price.
Once you select one or a few qualified candidates, you may interview them through in-app face-to-face video calls to learn more about them and ask any questions.
How do I communicate with a tailor?
There are features built into our app to communicate with your tailor directly. You may text them, send them an email including attachments, call them, or conduct a face-to-face video call.
Your contact information is not shared.
What happens after I hire a tailor?
After you hire a tailor, they initiate a meeting request for a fitting. This meeting can be in-person at a time and place of your choosing if they are within a reasonable driving distance or virtual, for which you conduct a face-to-face video call with your tailor. They will then instruct you to measure and mark the garment for your requirements and ship it to them.
Will my tailor keep in touch with me?
Yes. We instruct our tailors to keep a full and open line of communication with our clients. They will report their progress through the app, and you’ll receive an in-app and SMS notification.
How do I pay?
Depending on your device, you pay through the app using your credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
The payment will appear as Alteration Finder on your statement.
What if I want to make changes to my order?
You may change your order by directly communicating with your tailor.
The Alteration Finder app includes features for communicating with your tailor through text, email, phone, and video calls.
Your contact info is never shared.
When do I pay?
When your tailor completes the job and delivers the garments to you, or you receive the shipment, you pay through the app using your credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
You may also include tips for your tailor if you desire.
After receiving your payment, Alteration Finder instantly pays your tailor 100% of their fee plus any tips.
Is my credit card information safe?
Yes. We don’t collect, receive, or store sensitive personal or financial information. We use well-established and reputable 3rd party services to process your payment. Your information is always encrypted and safe.
Can I rate my tailor?
Yes. You may rate and leave feedback on your tailor’s quality of work and your overall satisfaction with the process any time after you hire a tailor.
